Graphic and editorial designer, marketing content creator, filmmaker, musician and snowboarder
Hi
I'm Mark Wilson, although in the filmmaking community I go by the name of Mark Kenny. I'm going to tell you a little bit about myself both professionally and personally, that way you're in on a journey that has led me to where I am today and hopefully give you a better picture of me as a creative professional in film and digital art.
My passion and skills have always been in art, mainly graphic and editorial publishing design. I studied Creative Practice at Newcastle College and achieved my honours degree in 2010.
Upon completing uni - and after a year or so working nightshifts in a budget hotel chain (oh boy, do I have some stories) - I have had the pleasure to work as a teacher of graphic and illustration design as part of the Games Design, as well as teaching on the film production, courses at Gateshead College, UK.
I held this position for 7 years until the Summer 2019 when a film I produced was accepted into the Sydney Indie Film Festival which prompted me to fulfill a life ambition of going to Australia (via a month in Thailand) to travel, explore and work. After an east coast tour, I settled in Melbourne and quickly found work as a graphic designer for a company called Printco, where I worked as part of a small design team to create billboards for real estate companies. It was really cool to see my design work popping up all around Melbourne.
In mid-January 2020 my time in Australia drew to a natural close. I have now returned home to the UK and looking to crack on with my career in the creative digital design industry.
I am a proficient user of the Adobe creative suite - Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and PremierePro - and am getting pretty good pretty quick at AfterEffects too.
Outside of my creative work I have a big appreciation for foods from around the world; I'm a hobbyist snowboarder; I play and watch soccer (my team is Sunderland AFC of which being a life-long supporter is a lesson in emotional resilience in itself. Back-to-back relegations in recent years has been tough to take); I enjoy playing guitar and performing at informal jam/busking/open-mic nights; and of course I love a good barbeque.
While I could go on and on about myself - I will spare you. Instead please let me direct your attention to the rest of this website where you can check out my graphic and editorial creative portfolio. For my film work, please check out the button below which will take you my acting/filmmaking career biography on a separate website.
